Three different kinds of AI feature
A feature may be native to the admin, delivered by a first-party app or provided by an independent developer. Those distinctions affect setup, support, data handling and cost. Ask the provider which one applies.
Follow the data
Find out what the tool can read and write, whether data is sent to an external service and whether you can restrict access. Review the actual privacy and retention terms rather than relying on a badge.
Check the real workflow
Can you review a draft? Can you undo a change? Does the output stay useful when you update the catalogue? Test these questions with real examples before connecting a production store.
Compare value, not feature counts
A single useful workflow may matter more than ten rarely used tools. Compare the time saved with the subscription, review effort and maintenance involved. Keep a manual fallback for the tasks your business depends on.
